In June of 2011, Japan House and its supporters gave an emotional goodbye to Kimiko Gunji as she stepped down as Director. At this time, the Kimiko Gunji Legacy Fund was established to raise funds for a Japanese style bridge to be constructed in the Japan House gardens and named in her honor. The Fund will also be used to support visiting artists and teachers to continue the sharing of Japanese arts and culture.
With support from the University Arboretum, donations made at the time of her retirement, and with further donations, we hope to break ground in 2013. Gifts to this fund truly commemorate the extraordinary contributions made by Professor Kimiko Gunji throughout her teaching career. In order to be part of this effort you can donate online now or contact us for more information about this effort. Japan House is deeply appreciative of your generosity. View slideshow.
