Thank you to all who joined us on the grounds of Japan House and the University Arboretum on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm for our third annual Japanese festival, Matsuri. It was a wonderful day ofJapanese food and drink, powerful drum performances by Ho Etsu Taiko, martial arts demos, fashion shows, yukata and cosplay dressing, bubbles and face painting, tea ceremonies, Ikebana displays, Bonsai demonstrations and displays and more! The weather was wonderful, as were the crowds and all who performed and participated. Mark your calendar for a very special 20th anniversary celebration for Japan House on the last weekend of August in 2018!
Free demonstrations and performances will go on throughout the festival. While all events are free, tickets for food and drink are available for purchase. Buy them online now and pick them up at Will Call during the festival.
There will be a VIP tent for any Tomonokai, members who donate $100+ a year to Japan House. Each membership entitles you to two tickets for special Tomonokai cocktails (for those over 21) and a chance to purchase some special Japanese dishes made just for you. If you are not already a Take level ($100) or higher Tomonokai member, you have the option to make a donation, or increase your existing donation, that day and still enjoy VIP status!
