Kurotomesode
is the most formal kimono for a married woman. It has the family crest woven
in white in five places, and it has decorative and colorful patterns that adorn
kimono. This patterns generally are laced the lower portion of the kimono.
The
kurotomesode in the Japan House collection has the designs of a court carriage,
which is a symbol used for auspicious occasions. Usually the color of the
obi-age
and
obi-jime
is white. They provide a beautiful contrast against the black coloration of
the kimono.
